Linear resistance is what set the Revolution apart from other home gym systems that were produced by Bowflex since the company started operations in 1986. Many seasoned athlete and experienced weight trainers prefer linear resistance to progressive resistance offered by free weights and ordinary exercise machines. The linear resistance is made possible in the Bowflex Revolution through its Spiraflex System which replaced the power rod system in other home gym systems from Bowflex. In the Spiraflex-equipped Revolution, elastic straps are coiled inside a plate-like container to provide the linear resistance beneficial to exercise. Also among the features of the Revolution are so-called “Freedom Arms”. Adjustable to different angles up to a maximum of 170 degrees, these arms help allow for a wide variety of exercises. In the Revolution, as much as 100 exercises with 400 variations could be performed, already a wide variety to choose from even for the most avid of physical fitness disciples.
